授業題目Variation in World Englishes
授業の達成目標1. Students will become familiar with the linguistic and social aspects of major varieties of English , which will be  necessary for global cross-cultural communication.

2. Students will be able to enhance their proficiency in English through course activities.
今年度の授業内容The course explores the phonetic, grammatical and lexical characteristics of English varieties used by native speakers (British, American, Australian, New Zealand and Canadian English) and a non-native variety used as a second language (Indian English). The course also deals with the social aspects of those varieties.
準備学修予習・復習等の具体的な内容及びそれに必要な時間についてHandouts will be distrributed on the portal site the day before each lesson. Students are supposed to look through it and practice reading aloud the text before the lesson starts, which will take about an hour 合計60時間
自習に関する一般的な指示事項Try to listen not only to American English but also to British, Australian, New Zealand, and non-native varieties of English as often as possible. You can listen to them on the Internet.

授業の運営方法All class activities are done in English, which means the teacher lectures using English, and that students are supposed to speak and write in English.

If required to do classes remotely, we will do it online, in real time, using Microsoft Teams, a video conferencing tool.  Attendence is taken during the rea-time online class.

その他、履修生への注意事項 1. Be sure to bring a paper or electronic English dictionary to every class.

2. If some or all of the classes are held remotely, you need to attend our online class held on our Team during the same period, on the same day as regular classes. If you do not, you will be judged to be absent from that class.
